Massive catalog of a major horological exhibit organized 2005 by the Historical Museum of the City of Gdansk (Poland), held at the Uphagenhouse and at the Clocktower of St. Catherines church, showing watches, clocks and related artefacts made in Gdansk over time. Includes six major thematic essays: 1. Time in the Culture of old Gdansk, 2. Holly days - Workdays, social time in Gdansk in the 16th to 18th century, 3. Gdansk Towerclocks, 4. The Gdansk horological trades in the 16th to 18th century, 5. Domestic clocks in Gdansk in the second half of the 18th Century, 6. Waches and clocks from the "Werder" region around Gdansk. This is followed by a comprehensive alphabetic biographic directory of all known clock and watchmakers in the Gdansk region (35 pages). Essays and directory are fully bilingal in Polish and German. The final catalog section of 260 pages lists, describes (only in Polish) and illustrates all exhibited objects (circa 300 artefacts).
