A detailed account, including dimensioned technical drawings and many photographs of an early 21st century attempt to build a replica of the the legendary 'last (unfinished) regulator' built by John Harricon (circa 1774-1776) prior to his death (now in the posession of the Royal Astronomical Society, finished in the 1920s by Rupert Gould). The author tries to build a dimesnional and functional equivalent , to analyse its propereties systematically amf to replicate the legedary performance claims (in Harrisons last manuscript 1775: "A Description concerning such mechanism..."), but at times used modern materials and manufacturing techniques not available at Harrisons times.
