New in the library this week is a volume by Queens College and CUNY Professor Kevin Birth, "The Unsettled Clock: The Persistence of Time Pluralism." This newly published book is all about time pluralism, the long history of parallel and competing time systems. While many readers might think timekeeping has been settled once and for all, it's actually the case that many different timekeeping systems and frames of reference still exist. Professor Birth is an academic writer approaching time not just from the perspective of clocks and watches but digging into the ways we think about — and construct — time in society. He has two other books in our library also relating to the anthropology of time: "Objects of Time" and "Time Blind."
