Woodcuts: Franceschi's device on title-page, featuring an oval medallion within an architectural cartouche containing seated female figure of Peace (Pace), her left arm holding an olive branch, her right arm resting on the base of a column labelled "Pax;" several large 6-line historiated white initials; head-and tail-pieces; extensively illustrated throughout all five parts with astronomical illustrations, diagrams, and tables.  Texts printed in italic type. 
<br/><br/> First edition in Italian of the works of French mathematician Oronce Fine, who was professor in the Collège du Roi at Paris, as well as a talented artist. and#x2021;b The work is arranged in five parts, with the first four on arithmetic, geometry, cosmology and horology translated by the noted Florentine geometer, Cosimo Bartoli, who was himself the author of a popular work on mensuration.  The part dealing with horology is of special interest, as it contains a description and drawing of a clepsydra or water clock, Fine's invention.  The fifth part, Gli specchi ("On mirrors") was translated by Ercole Bottrigari.
