This definitive history looks mainly at the period from 1658 (the making of the first English pendulum clocks). The most prolific styles during this time were longcase clocks and bracket clocks and the development of their cases and movements is examined in detail with numerous illustrations. There is also a look at some unusual clocks eg the `Mostyn Tompion'. This book compliments `The longcase clock' by Tom Robinson and `The bracket clock' by Deryck Roberts.
