"The period of a simple pendulum depends on the angular amplitude of its motion. It has been suggested that the period of a pendulum suspended from a roller, either cylindrical or profiled, rolling on a horizontal plane, would be independent of potential and kinetic energy, has been developed to compute the period of a roller suspended pendulum. the procedure has been used to show that the periods of pendulums suspended from a variety of forms of roller in fact remain dependent on the amplitude. The periods do not depart significantly from that for the equivalent simple pendulum." -- dissertation abstract.
