Dawn was breaking over Buckingham Palace. The old clockmaker of the palace, Persian Columbus, a discreet and silent man who had lived sheltered from the outside world, experienced intense emotion on leaving forever the austere royal residence where, for so many years, he had been the only authorized winding up the three hundred clocks and pendulums that punctuated the hours of the palace. When there was a knock at the door, he smiled; no doubt a new parting gift. It opened slowly. By the time to see his killer, the master of time was dead, in shock from punches delivered with incredible violence and savagery...

Au moment de voir son assassin, le maître du temps était mort, sous le choc de coups de poing portés avec une violence et une sauvagerie inouïes...
