An illustrated (color)catalog of the watches in the collection of Western Art in the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford University), stemming primarily from the bequests of Bentinck Hawkins (1894), John Francis Mallet (19470 and Eric Bullivant (1974). After a short synopsis of the history of the watch this book consists mainly of 31 double page (in rare cases 4 page) spreads, each describing a significant watch (up to 1870) including 3 to 5 photographs (usually including detailed movement and dial shots).
