Journal of astronomical history and heritage, 2017: page 144 (Dr. James Lequeux was born in France and started radio astronomy in 1954 as a student; obtained his Ph.D. in 1962; In 1966 James founded the first infrared astronomy group at Meudon campus of Paris Observatory, and was involved in the scientific programs associated with the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) as an Associate Scientist. He was an Invited Scientist at CalTech in 1968-1969. Later, from 1983 to 1988 he was the Director of Marseilles Observatory. After a career in various fields of astrophysics, involving mainly research on interstellar matter and the evolution of galaxies, James retired in 1999 and his interests turned to the history of astronomy. James is currently affiliated with the LERMA group at Paris Observatory.
