Les échappements constituent un thème infiniment plus riche que les quelques aspects de base couverts dans l'ouvrage "Théorie d'horlogerie" et les enseignants ont regretté que leurs apprentis ne puissent disposer d'une référence de qualité dans ce domaine spécifique. C'est pourquoi, en 2011, la FET décida de se lancer dans une révision. Cependant, il apparut rapidement qu'en raison de l'évolution de la technologie et des techniques d'impression, une révision ne serait pas suffisante et que c'est bien à la rédaction d'un nouveau volume qu'il fallait procéder. C'est ainsi qu'après plus de 4 années d'intense labeur, le travail à la fois enthousiaste et méthodique de l'auteur, M. Sylvian Aubry, avec la collaboration de très nombreuses entreprises, enseignants et spécialistes, a été couronné par la naissance de l'ouvrage "Théorie des échappements". Conçu spécifiquement pour les personnes en formation, il s'adresse aussi aux amateurs désirant s'initier ou compléter leurs connaissances en horlogerie.
