Trois siècles de relations horlogères franco-suisses relatées par le responsable du Musée de la Montre à Villers-le-Lac, Jean-Pierre Viennet. Des histoires surtout axées autour de cette localité et le long du Doubs qui matérialise la frontière actuelle. A l'époque c'est surtout une frontière confessionnelle qui crée des tensions dans la région. Le savoir-faire horloger n'a que faire de la politique et de la religion, c'est donc ce «pays horloger» de Besançon à Neuchâtel qui vit de la fabrication de garde-temps. Malheureusement dans cet ouvrage on découvre aussi le déclin de l'horlogerie française de ces dernières décennies et le nombre d'entreprises disparues citées montre la fragilité de cette industrie. Si aujourd'hui les frontaliers français représentent une part importante des emplois horlogers en Suisse, on y apprend aussi qu'en 1857, 535 suisses venaient travailler dans la région de Morteau. -- watch-around.com. |

Three centuries of Franco-Swiss watchmaking relations recounted by the head of the Watch Museum in Villers-le-Lac, Jean-Pierre Viennet. Stories mainly centered around this locality and along the Doubs which materializes the current border. At the time, it was mainly a confessional border that created tensions in the region. Watchmaking know-how has nothing to do with politics and religion, so it is this "watchmaking country" from Besançon to Neuchâtel that lives from the manufacture of timepieces. Unfortunately in this book we also discover the decline of French watchmaking in recent decades and the number of companies that have disappeared shows the fragility of this industry. If today French cross-border workers account for a large share of watchmaking jobs in Switzerland, we also learn that in 1857, 535 Swiss came to work in the Morteau region. |
