Translation of William Derham's book "Artificial Clock-maker" (1694), one of the first widely-read English books on horology. The book was translated into French and published by order of Germaine-Louis Chauvelin(1685-1762), Garde des Sceaux, 1727-1737, who was acting on the suggestion of the great mathematician Joseph Saurin (1659-1737).
